Welcome to Beth Cochlin Counselling & Psychotherapy

A confidential, safe space to talk

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Beth Cochlin Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am a BACP registered counsellor based in Northamptonshire.

Counselling & Psychotherapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting.

Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. Sometimes we can feel stuck in a situation or overwhelmed by difficult emotions. We can lose track of ourselves, who we are, what we want and feel uncertain how to move forward. At these times talking to a counsellor who is outside our normal life and situation can really help.

Abuse, Anxiety and Depression, Bereavement and Grief, Trauma, Relationship issues, Identity issues, low self esteem/confidence and Stress are common reasons my clients seek support counselling.

I can work with you in person from Northamptonshire or Buckinghamshire or online or by telephone across the UK

I will listen without judgement and you can discuss ANYTHING. My personal approach to my clients is natural, warm, and accepting. My focus is on empowering you, working things through in our relationship as you feel ready to bring them. I see clients from a wide area including Towcester, Buckingham, Brackley, Milton Keynes and Northampton or across the UK on Zoom or by telephone

My theoretical approach to counselling is Psychodynamic and Relational.

After an initial free assessment call or zoom we will agree a number of sessions:

I can work short term which may be 6-12 weeks

Or at more depth and long term if you want open ended support.

In person, online or by telephone

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. I work with

Adults, Older adults, young people over 14 years.

As a fully-qualified counsellor you can be reassured that I have completed extensive theoretical training that is ongoing through continued professional development.

Types of Counselling & Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic counselling & Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy helps us understand how our current feelings and behaviour are shaped by our past experiences and helps us understand our unconscious mind, thoughts, feelings and impulses. It reveal reasons for relationship dynamics that seem to repeat themselves in our lives (over time, answering the question why does this always happen to me?). The relationship with the counsellor is key to this work.

I am trained to work in a long term or open ended way with clients. This type of work would enable us to look in depth at your life and personal history. This type of work is often called psychotherapy.

or

I can also offer short term, solution focused counselling where we would agree on a specific area of your life you want to understand more.

The first 4 sessions allow me to assess you and your needs so that we can then agree a plan for you.
